I was hoping to have the update ready this weekend, but even if I worked around the clock to get\u00a0shuttles implemented, the feature would\u00a0still be rushed and buggy. Version 0.8.1 was never meant to be a massive update, and the fact that it&#8217;s taken five months already has led me to decide to push shuttles\u00a0back to a future version. Shuttles were listed as a tentative feature\u00a0<a title=\"Shipyard: Outline for Pre-Alpha 0.8.1\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brasswatchgames.com\/2014\/06\/07\/shipyard-outline-for-pre-alpha-0-8-1\/\">from the very beginning<\/a>, so as disappointing as it is, you can&#8217;t say I didn&#8217;t warn you.\u00a0I\u00a0would think\u00a0that releasing\u00a0<em>an update<\/em>\u00a0without\u00a0a single\u00a0interesting feature is better than delaying\u00a0<em>every<\/em> feature on account of it (hence the title of this post).<\/p>\n<p>Version 0.8.1 will still contain all of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Debug commands<\/li>\n<li>Auto-path to selected tile with shift + right click<\/li>\n<li>Working items, including one-time consumables and permanent upgrades<\/li>\n<li>Some old items removed\u00a0and some\u00a0new ones added (though not as many as I was hoping for)<\/li>\n<li>Scanner range stat determined by crew and power in ship&#8217;s bridge<\/li>\n<li>Size limit of 16&#215;16 for class 1, 32&#215;32 for class 2, and 48&#215;48 for class 3 (when implemented)<\/li>\n<li>Background music<\/li>\n<li>Options menu (currently, it only has volume options)<\/li>\n<li>Improved navigation screen UI<\/li>\n<li>Efficient world saving and loading<\/li>\n<li>Rebalanced crew damage<\/li>\n<li>A metric butt-ton of bug fixes and minor rebalances<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I still have some finishing touches and clean-up work to do before releasing the update, but you can expect version 0.8.1 to be released sometime this weekend&#8211;maybe even later today if everything goes smoothly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After going back over the features that still need to be completed for Shuttles to be ready to use, I&#8217;ve decided that there&#8217;s still a lot of work to do.
